Solid Core Post Insulators

Solid Core Post Insulators

These Solid core insulators are ensures high strength, and using very high quality raw material as well as irritate free work performance at its client conclusion. Solid core insulators are manufactured according to requirement, by our qualified engineers who have a broad knowledge about product. Solid core insulators is an insulator of generally columnar shape, it have one insulator unit or an assembly of such units and is intended to give rigid support to a live part which is insulated from earth or from another live part.

All the portable as well as the hand held electric devices are well insulated for protecting the users from any kind of harmful shock.

Class- 1 insulation

Class- 1 insulation demands that the metallic body as well as other exposed metallic parts of the equipment to be well connected with earth through grounding wire which is earthed at main panel of service. But it just needs some basic insulation on the conductor. This equipment requires an additional pin on power plug for gounding connections.

Class- 2 insulation

Class- 2 insulation signifies that the equipment should be double insulated. It is used in some of the appliances like hair dryer, electrical shaver, portable power tool, etc. Double insulation demands that the device should have supplementary as well as basic insulation and each of this should be well sufficient in preventing any kidn of electrical shock. All the internal electric energised components are enclosed within the insulated body which helps in preventing any kind of contact with the “LIVE”parts. In EU, the double insulated equipment are marked specifically with the symbol which consist of 2 squares, one inside of the other.

Insulation in the electric apparatus

One of the most significant insulation materials is air. A wide range of liquid, solid and gas insulators are used in the electric apparatus. In the smaller generators, transformers, as well as electrical motors, insulation on wired coils omprise of upto 4 thin layers of the polymer varnish films. The film insulated magnetic wires permit the manufacturer to get max amount of turns within the space available. The windings which use thick conductors are mostly wrapped with the supplemental fiber glass insulation tapes. The windings might even be impregnated with the insulation varnishes for preventing the electric corona and reducing the magnetic induced wires vibrations.

The big power transformer winding is still widely insulated wuth the help of wood, paper, mineral oil and varnish. Even thoigh all such materials have been in use for 100+ years now, they still offer an efficient balance of the economy as well as adequate performance. The circuit breakers and busbars in the switch gears could be insulated with the glass reinforced plastic insulation, given the treatment for having low flames spread and for preventing tracking of the current throughout the materials.

In the older apparatus which were made in the early 1970, the boards which were made with compressed asbestos could be found. While its is an efficient insulator at the power frequency, repairs or handling to the asbestos materials could release some rsky fibers in the air and thus should be cautiously carried.

Wires insulated with the help of felted asbestos were used in the high temperature as well as rugged applications from 1920s. The wires of these types were sold majorly by General Electricals under trade name of “Deltabeston”.

The live front switchboard up to early 20th century used to be made with marble or slate. Some of the high voltage devices are designed for operating within the high pressure insulation has like sulfur hexafluoride. The insulation material which performs well at the power and a low frequency could be quite unsatisfactory at the radio frequency, because of heating from an additional dielectric dissipation.

The electric wire could be well insulated with the help of polyethylene, cross link polyethylene either through the electrons beams process or through chemical cross linking, Kapton, PVC, oil-impregnated papers, rubber like polymer, silicone, Teflone or edited ethylene tetrafluoroethylene or ETFE. The large power cable could use compressed and inorganic powder on the basis of the applications.

The flexible insulation material like polyvinyl chloride or PVC are used for insulating the circuit and for preventing human contact with “LIVE” wire, which has 600 volts voltage or less. The alternate material is likely to be increasingly used because of the EU safety as well as environmental legislation which makes the PVC not so economic.

The Solid Core Post Insulators are used in isolators and substrators as operating insulators. They are mainly used in:

  • Isolators
  • Bus support
  • Wave trap support
  • Pantographs
  • Capacitor bank supports
  • Transmission system
  • HV and LV bushings and power transformer
  • Voltage transformer, current, circuit breaker as well as surge arrester, isolators

These insulators are designed, manufactured and tested as per relevant IB/ IEC/ ANSI (National/ International Standards)

Solid Core insulators help in ensuring high strength and with the help of good quality raw material and irritation free working performance at the conclusion of the client. These types of insulator are manufactured as per the requirement, by the well qualified engineers who possess broad knowledge about the product. These insulators are usually columnar in shape, have one single insulator unit or assembly of these types of units are intended for giving rigid support to the live part that’s insulated from the ground or from some other living part.

Salient features

  • Clear glaze as well as smoother surface
  • Uniform dimension
  • Cost efficient
  • Min warpage for long bushings
  • Meets applicable ANSI, IEC and IS standards

The solid core post insulator could be used as a support system for the conductors on the cross arms of distribution and transmission line pole. These types of insulators are suggested for the polluted zones and the areas which are prone to damages.

Even though an insulator shed gets damaged, there would be less decrease in the flash over voltage as well as power supply wouldn’t be distributed. The insulator which is damaged could be left within service as well as replaced very conveniently. Absolutely no changes in the cross arms is required if the pin-type insulator is replaced by the solid core post insulator during the process of maintenance.
